Abidjan Basketball Club (ABC) is proud to announce the appointment of Cherif Diallo, former coach at the prestigious NBA Academy Africa and Latin America, as the club’s new Technical Director.
Diallo played a key role in the development of top African talents such as the 2025 BAL MVP Jean Jacques Boissy, NBA G League prospect Thierry Darlan, and Ulrich Chomche—the first NBA Academy graduate to be drafted into the NBA. He also contributed to the growth of standout players like Aginaldo Neto (BAL 2024 champion with Petro de Luanda) and Khaman Maluach, a South Sudanese rising star, Duke University alumnus, and projected 2025 NBA Draft lottery pick.
Diallo brings world-class experience in player development, combining technical expertise with a deep understanding of high-performance standards at the international level.
His appointment reflects ABC’s ambition to become one of the most professionalized and competitive basketball organizations in Africa. Widely respected among teams, players, and agents, ABC continues to strengthen its position both locally and continentally.
As Technical Director, Diallo will oversee the technical development of both the men’s and women’s teams, while supporting player performance, amateur basketball programming and developing clear player pathways for the club at all levels. A key focus of his role will be leading the ABC Pro Elite program, a high-performance initiative designed to help players aged 18 to 23 transition into professional-level competition.

Cherif Diallo, Technical Director of Abidjan Basketball Club, stated: “I’m honored to join ABC Fighters at such an exciting time in the club’s journey. I’ve seen firsthand the level of talent in Côte d’Ivoire and across Africa, and I look forward to building a structure that helps these athletes reach their full potential. My goal is to bring the same high-performance standards I’ve worked with at the NBA Academy to this new chapter.”
Boubakari Touré, President of Abidjan Basketball Club, concluded: “Cherif Diallo’s appointment reflects our long-term vision to position ABC as a continental leader in talent development and technical performance standards. We are committed to building a club that not only wins titles but also shapes future African stars. His experience and values align perfectly with our ambition.”
This strategic move underscores the club’s long-term commitment to talent development, professional excellence, and the advancement of Ivorian and African basketball.
